# device rename

This block is part of the [`globals`](https://docs.rual.nl/block-types/globals) group and was last modified in core [`v15.0.0`](https://docs.rual.nl/core-versions/150000).

Sets a device's friendly name and/or room.

- flow `v15.0.0` `flow`

- device `v15.0.0` `value` Device id, native address, or exact device name. Leave empty to use the device picked on the block.

- name `v15.0.0` `value`

- room `v15.0.0` `value`

- flow `v15.0.0` `flow`

- ok `v15.0.0` `condition`

- device `v15.0.0` `object`

- error `v15.0.0` `value`

Renames a device in the RUAL registry. It does NOT rename it at the radio : the Zigbee2MQTT friendly name and the Hue bridge name are unchanged, so those apps keep showing the old name. Empty pins leave that field alone, so this can set a room without touching the name.
