# parse places query

Turns typed Dutch or English into a structured filter. `binnen 300m van een basisschool` becomes a proximity filter; `niet bij scholen` becomes a negated one; `minimaal 3 kroegen binnen 500m` carries a minimum count; `wijk Jordaan` and `Station Breda` resolve to a location. Feed `filter` into `places_match`, `places_filter` or `places_facet`. Parsing is rule-based and deterministic : no model call and no network. It never guesses silently: anything it could not read comes back in `unparsed` with a lower `confidence`, so you can fall back to plain search instead of acting on a half-understood filter.

- query required `v15.0.0` `value` What the user typed.

- language `v15.0.0` `value` `auto` (default), `nl` or `en`. Both languages are recognised either way.

- default radius (m) `v15.0.0` `number` Radius assumed when the query implies nearness without naming a distance, e.g. `bij een school`. Empty uses 500.

- near `v15.0.0` `geo_point` Bias place and area resolution towards this point.

- kind `v15.0.0` `value` `proximity` (a filter), `place` or `area` (a location), or `text` (nothing recognised).

- filter `v15.0.0` `object` The whole structured filter. Wire this straight into `places_match`, `places_filter` or `places_facet`.

- negated `v15.0.0` `condition` True when the query excludes rather than requires, e.g. `niet bij scholen`.

- category group `v15.0.0` `value` The resolved category group id.

- category label `v15.0.0` `value` The Dutch label for that group, for showing back to the user.

- radius (m) `v15.0.0` `number` The distance the query asked for, or the default when it implied nearness without a number.

- min count `v15.0.0` `number` Minimum number required, from phrases like `minimaal 3`. Normally 1. Strict phrasings are read strictly: `meer dan 3` asks for 4, while `minstens 3` and `3+` ask for 3.

- geo point `v15.0.0` `geo_point` The resolved coordinate for a `place` or `area` query. Empty for a proximity filter.

- place name `v15.0.0` `value` The name of the resolved place or area.

- confidence `v15.0.0` `number` How much of the query was understood, 0–1. Below about 0.6 means text was left over : check `unparsed`.

- unparsed `v15.0.0` `value` Any part of the query that was not recognised. Never silently dropped, so you can decide whether to fall back to plain search.

- success `v15.0.0` `condition` True when the query ran. An empty result is still a success.

- error `v15.0.0` `value` Error code when the query could not run: `PLACES_NOT_AVAILABLE`, `QUERY_REQUIRED`.
